backwoods500 has a spectacular aura aboutbackwoods500 has a spectacular aura about
about 7 or so years ago we were at my uncles farm in southeastern Manitoba and seen 2 sets of headlights in his field by the cattle corral so we went out there and turns out it was 2 groups of Natives they shot 2 elk that were among the cattle had the gates open and were dragging them out.. We called rcmp and conservation and when they got there they did absolutely nothing told us that theres nothing they can do because itll just get thrown out of court... He was lucky that they never shot and wounded or killed any of his cattle...i ask why in the hell do we even have a conservation department? why do they harrass the honest guy that obides by the law?

sometimes I wish we had the right like the states to shoot and ask questions later when u see poachers on private property.. it makes me sick and its the reason i dont hunt because of all the bs that happens.

I thought as the rules read it was hunting by "moonlight" not a million watt spotlight...Maybe if enough people raise a stink, the courts won't have a choice, but at the end of the day, fines never get paid, and jail time ends up as a vacation for some

These were the screenshots of joshuas convo with a stranger. I hope they are in order. There were more but got deleted where he offered the guy to take him to shoot a bull elk for 200 bucks. Ass hat. Glad he got busted. Sorry they are not in order but starts with we went out last night.

I find it incredulous that these individuals who post anything on line on any type of medium - then delete it and think its gone forever !!

A computer forensic audit can find this material quite easily. I would think that the high public profile/interest this event is receiving, the stink eye / finger will be pointing in that direction.

( We can only hope ).....!!

They took their weapons and everything. If nothing illegal was happening there would be no arrests and so on

what a tool. Using his 'rights' to over hunt. No respect for his heritage and abusing his rights. "can't be touched" is what he is going to plead since it's his right to hunt as many as he wants. BUT if that's the case, why did he run?

That's a good point. If the individual believes they are not guilty of anything you would have to wonder why they would run from the authorities.

If you cannot stand behind, or justify your actions ( words or otherwise ) I suppose your comfort zone is in the shadows or just running away !!

It's illegal for indigenous hunters to spotlight on private property without permission. They also led the CO's on a 20 minute chase, so there's charges from that. Some sort of illegal weapon charge for the brass knuckles they had. Weapons and vehicle were confiscated. Natural Resources went all out, they had a plane in the air spotting and multiple vehicles on the ground chasing. We have to demand that the provincial govt provide adequate funding for NRO's. There aren't enough to protect our wildlife from poachers. We also have to demand an end to spotlighting. The moose and elk decline in MB proves that we aren't protecting them adequately.

Anyone notice the hunting guide kinda contradicts itself, is has a section saying they are not subject to the same rules for hours, bag limits and hunting from a vehicle, and then in the section of what they can't do, is shoot from a vehicle...I know the one says like an ORV...but that leaves it open for interpretation of them being ok to shoot from one.

I see the guide is a lot less clear..I'm sure it used to read that they could only hunt by moonlight, when safe to do so....which of course it's never safe to shoot in the dark because you never know what's past your field of light....I hope everyone on here signed that petition by the guys down in Souris...the poaching in the west has gotten way way out of hand

I only ever remember it reading that they were allowed to use a spotlight only when safe to do so. And they leave that judgement with whom exactly??? Is that not saying that they are only capable of making such a call and others are not?? And we get called racists and prejudice!!

Thanks to everyone that signed, this needs some attention from the government...outdated treaties are a hazard to people, property and harmful to sparse big game populations
