It's possible the long travel is intentional as a safety feature. My opinion, a pump action rifle is meant as a bush gun, where a rapid shot and follow up shot might be necessary. More time with the finger in the trigger guard, more chance of accidental discharge unless the trigger is not prone to firing from just being touched. I don't mind a long travel. It's just something you have to get used to.

I'm picturing tracking a moving deer through the sights in the bush kind of shots. You finger spends more time on the trigger than is typical.

No matter what gun I have, long travel of hair trigger, my finger isnít on the trigger until I pull the gun up and get almost lined up.

Well kinda got used to it but after using the savage with the AccuTrigger kinda got spoiled. Always did dislike the trigger tho.
