Not completly sure what you are disputing there. I realize that that the races are different. All I said was that the rincon won the pro class in 2002 at a faster time then all the sports of that year and running faster times then todays 450's and 800's!

It is a goal of mine to run a baja race. It has intrigued me for years. Wanting to see if there is any interest in this race on trackshare. I dont see what the problem is.

Daniel son, one must first posess the rudimentary tools for competition before they can challenge another to a duel.

I think the bottom line to this thread is that desert/off-road racing or that style of riding looks very appealing to some of us. I must say I fall into that category as well.

Check this out. Now THIS looks like a vacation...

I think it would be alot of fun to set up some XC-style races here in Manitoba. I would really be interested. Both 4x4 and sport quads as well. Anybody have some well-tree'd land they're not using???????

As gooch450r stated previously, you cannot compare times between different years. Weather conditions, course routes, and overall course length vary from year to year. Re-read his post.

In 2002 no manufacturer had yet released a 450 sport quad. BIG difference from the older quad to the new generation, ask me how I know.

However, I do agree with the draw/intrigue of a baja race. "thread de-rail off"

Oh my god, this is going in circles. Re read my post.

If you dont have anything to say about the original topic then dont say anything. Pm me or something. I am not inept when it comes to atv racing or atvs for that matter. I have forgotten more about atv's then most ppl even wish they could know. I know the terrain of the baja races, they are gruelling. Not made for everyone. It is a team sport. Im all about team work. I know I can ride 333.333333 miles in one day. As well as a few other ppl on here. I know I am willing to get into shape to run 333.333 plus miles at 50 mph.

I realize I am sounding like a jerk but that is not what I am trying to get across. Just saying I am willing for the challange. Just give me some advil.

jrex that was uncalled for, good to see were getting on with this.

I was going to say LE start at $100,000 and go up from there depending on how fast you want to go but by the looks of it, maybe TS can make it happen.

I'll come along for the pre-run? lol now that would be good enough for me?

Oh yeah I can be your chearing section!

Hey we got room for EFI Mark? It would be his dream come true!

Wow, 100 grand? Really? Why that much? Not inventing a machine to run this. I think you could do it on the cheap. Gas and hotels would be the most costly I would think, at least after parts for the machine.

We'll if you wanted to do it on your own I'm saying 100+. Keep in mind I'm talking a paid crew to meet you at your fuel stops, chase vehicle, in case of break down, mechanic, etc. Some of those guys have their own choppers and planes to monitor there race trucks and cars. Never mind the semi to haul their shop on wheels?

This has got to be some serious racing, Many of the top contenders would be driving vehicles that are worth more than 100G's I'm sure? I'm don't know if they would let an amateur team enter if they didn't have the support to ensure the safety of their own team. Thats a 1000 miles of desert? always changing terrain. Thats not fireguards roads and bush trails! there for some part is no trail? your following a Chart Plotter that tells you where to go only because that is where you said it should go? AND AT NIGHT!

I don't know that much about it, I'm not trying to talk anybody out of their dream but the Baja 1000 has got to be some serious racing. I bet the entry fee isn't 100 bux either? If not just to keep the riff raff away....

Besides that the starting line is 3000 miles away?

That's a big commitment from what 5 - 6 volunteers for a week?

I don't know what do you guys think this would cost just to run an ATV in the Baja 1000?

I realize what you are saying. But if some guys did wnat to enter and do it as a hobby, it wouldnt cost that much. Maybe a few thousand. Same as if it were a vacation or something. The entry fee for a sportsman class is $50.
