It is a goal of mine to run a baja race. It has intrigued me for years. Wanting to see if there is any interest in this race on trackshare. I dont see what the problem is.

Congratulations on your desire to run the race, I'm not disputing that at all. The Baja is a an awsome place, infact I drove from Brandon all the way to La Paz, the finish point of the 1000 and back in march of this year. Its an incredible trip and my buddy and myself drove through several sections of the race course. I would highly recommend that trip to anyone.

What I'm disputing is the mis-information that you were providing. If you would have read my posts I thought you would understood that. Since the arrival of the 450r, they have dominated every baja event they've competed in, either winning 1st and always hitting the podium. Anyhow, good luck.

Here's the 2005 & 2006 results for those who are interested. You can see how the times vary from each year, more than 4hrs difference, and you'll also see the lack of the Rincon destroying any 450r's or the Renegade. My point is that if you are going to make pointed comments like that, atleast make sure your information is correct.

As far as your bike setup - Suspension and rider endurance are key. Horsepower won't win this race. Having a bullit proof engine and tranny are key (suprisingly most teams have success with stock motors), and having an aftermarket longtravel suspension and steering stabilizer that are up to the task to prevent rider fatigue.

You might be rolling on the floor laughing but some of us might like to do something like this, a life experience. I know I would love to do this, just not sure its the right time in my life, alot of changes are on the horizon.

I seriously would like to do this, I want to do something like this, it doesn't have to be this event or race. But I would like to make a race team of friends and go see what we can do. I believe it would be a life experience because its not something you get a chance to do every day or ever if you sit back and let it go. I don't want something like this to pass me by, I want to do this. I just need some time to know if I can do it not.

Actually i would love to do this hence my handle ILOVETOYS and doing a baja is a dream of mine. However i don't have the means or the money to do it. I just know when i am reaching for the sky. I can't even ponder how much cash that even would take

And if you do go and do this I sure hope i see it on TV

A highly modified Rincon. There were more than 1 in that race. I think Honda put 3 in. 1 out 3 finishing isn't a bad percentage. Just think you've got a 33 1/3 percentage chance of finishing...

I remember seeing the race on TV and reading about it. ATV TV had a chance to take a peek at the Baja Rincon, the front diff had been stripped out of it along with some other mods.

I am dead serious about doing this. I am just not great at organizing stuff like this, or do I know where I am going to be in a month. Only because I am done school in two weeks and my current job ends at the same time. But If next november was the only time that I could have a chance at running this, I would start training tonight. If we got together and decided when and for sure doing this, I would hand over my machine and start ripping stuff off and biulding it up. Its only money, you can always make more...lol.

Sorry Bronc, the machines that win these races have to survive the race. You're delicate YFZ's would really require way too much frame gussetting(how many time's has yours broke) and a really reliable engine/tranny. We all know its alot of work to build a reliable yamaha.... ....even the honda's crack their frames on this event, the winners are usually the team with the fewest breakdowns, with the sport squads its generally tire problems and crashes that take them out, or getting passed by a trophy truck going 140mph.

If you guy's are running a cvt tranny which you likely will be in your griz, you're gonna need to think about keeping that cool. Like a well ventilated belt cover with some outerwears material covering the openings to keep that sand out. Its hard to imagine how those rubber bands will hold up over 1000 miles of desert racing, might have to look at getting kevlar belts?
