SNOW.....how much??

curious on snow reports for east of Steinbach into Ontario. Figuring it's going to cause some issues with trail cleaning and ice making on some lakes if it doesn't blow off with all the wind we are having

Our lake froze over Nov. 12th. but with all the snow acting as an insulater it's tough to make thick ice.

and in addition to slow ice growth the heavy snow is gonna push down on the ice causing cracks that will pool up water under the snow and make some nice slush conditions

remember the ride up the L106 from the Angle before they even had it staked...slush city and I got stuck

Definitely some snow out in Echo Bay LOTW.
Looks like RWS is correct about the slush. Couldn't get my blower on the ice very far. All along the shore is slush, lake froze high and is dropping.

Could be riding soon...NWA Edge Rider land trails are open and there is a stake line from Young's Bay to Flag Island. 8" to 12" of snow. The club will be checking ice over the weekend to determine if more lake trails can be staked.

I told T that I might be heading up that way Thursday if I get a favorable report from Dave V.

I would say you could probably come up the L106 to the Enns Bros shack, should be plenty enough snow on the land trails, Trail to Falcon from Enns will need work, I am sure there will be lots of trees down. Not sure about the small land portions of the L106 either, may need a saw.

Nov 26 picture from Echo Bay, east was frozen but not north from my place and the deep part did not freeze until after Dec 2 according to satellite. Falcon looked frozen on the way buy on Friday morning.

Yeah I rode to Steinbach yesterday from La Broquerie. Rode the drifts which were soft. Why couldn't this snow come Saturday night instead of last

Unloaded at the ranger station yesterday, and headed towards Woodridge. Beside's some open area's on the hydro line where the wind has blown the snow away, it's pretty good for the middle of December, after what we got last night, and right now, it should be great!! We have a pretty good hard layer of ice/snow as a base, so it could be a good winter after all.

Every year I hear of someone going through the ice and a fatality happening. I prefer to wait a little longer than everyone else
