Polaris Sportsman 600 Starter issues
I have been having issues with starting my quad, when I engage the key the starter whines and sometimes it catches but most it doesn't.
I replaced the bendix ($160 wasted) tested the battery (seems to bench test good 12V and 265 amps). I am down to the starter motor as I do not think there is anything else in the ignition sequence. I have have the starter out and but the battery to it and it spins ( hence the bendix purchase). A new starter seems to be around $300+ so anyone have any thoughts on something I may have overlooked? Can a starter be rebuilt? Are most starters similiar? Any ideas suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

starter rebuild kit is approx 50 bux plus tax, worth it in my eyes since new is soo much.

alltemp in stienbach. I think the last time I checked a new starter was 99 bucks. I know a lot of people that get them there.

I'm not sure about you setup do you have a solenoid is that getting power

The starter motor is turning but the bendix is not poppping out...I put it in to get rebuilt. They tested it and said that is appeared to turn but the bearings sounded rough in it. Quoted me $25-$40 for a clean up brush and bearing replacement. Wait and see...

Probably the bushing at the back worn and spinning. My buddy had this problem with his sportsman 700 . He took it to machine shop they made a bushing for 10 bucks.
