Ethanol Gas

I have been running premium in my 09 225 Yamaha 4 stroke and my 06 75 Merc 4 stroke...I use anywhere between 125-250 litres per weekend guiding. It's getting friggin expensive! Anyone using ethanol blended crap in a high horsepower motor? Problems?

Been running regular (10% ethanol) in my 2009 merc 115hp 4 stroke since the day I bought it. No troubles yet.

Just cross the border to Manitoba & load up on premium @ ont. reg fuel price(13c /l less). See trucks & SUVs from ont. always with a pile of jerry cans.

I run only reg in my 6.0l MP. Just don't let it sit with out seafom for to long but if using that much gas you should not have a problem. I use 48 gallons a weekend. Only time I have issues is when the previos person drops the nozzle in the lake. Seafoam or ring free cures all.

keep track of your consumption, you'll probably use more of the blended crap.
coming out to about the same price.

Here is the funny thing about regular. Although it states 10% you are lucky to have anywhere between 1 to 5%. This will have no impact on fuel consumption. Even e85 only decreases fuel consumtion by 15% at best.

Premium sits in their tanks forever anyway.....who can afford it??..the consumption of premium is at an all time low......you're getting really old gasoline at best, so it's really not "premium"....for that price, they should be sucking the leftover out, and replenishing with fresh....that's premium...but good luck with that.lol.

I used to run premium in all recreation stuff, mowers, trimmers, etc., but switched to the cheap gas a few years back, running a touch of stabil, or seafoam if it's gonna sit, and have never had an issue.

You should not add seafoam or any additive with alcohol to regular 10% ethanol gas. Ethanol is an alcohol, adding more alcohol to a 10% ethanol fuel becomes dangerous as most engines cannot handle more than 10% ethanol. Ethanol and alcohols in gasoline also absorb water (including humidity in the air), if they absorb too much water phase seperation happens and when the engines draws in this alcohol/water sludge bad things happen.

Keep your regular fuel fresh and if it's going to sit for more than a couple of weeks use an ethanol designed fuel stabilizer.

the problem with reg. gas is ethanol. Ethanol sucks, but Sea Foam is magic!
