83 200 trike considering for trade

The idea I'm considering is taking the trike in trade, fixing it, and flipping it.

https://www.varagesale.com/pembina-v...onda-3-wheeler

That's the trike. How much labor am I looking at for doing recoil and brakes as it says, how much will parts cost, and what's likely resale?

Needs fender, brakes, cables, fuel to pick it up and possible recoil guts. $200-$300. And resale is about $600-and $800if your lucky. No real profit to be made.

And once you get it running there's bound to be a few "Surprises". When you buy used you better know your stuff or can easy cost you more than you could ever hope to get for it.

I am capable of doing all the work myself, I've got no issue trouble shooting mechanical and electrical. So basically it's going to be parts and time (which is free right?). They would be dropping it off when they come to close the deal on my bike, if I can break even I'll be OK, so long as I'm not losing big.

Education is never a waste of time. I say no guts no glory. That's how I got started.

Exactly, I started 4 ish years ago rebuilding engines for the first time after dad got bored and started that, got some coaching from a mechanic and basically just figured it out. Always been good with electrical so that has come in handy. Dad has taken an built up "parts sleds" that he got for dirt cheap and flipped them and made a couple bucks. Done a LOT of learning on how things work so I'm not afraid of the surprises, I might get annoyed but I'll get over it.

A few things I know, it's a honda, it's not a high perf engine, and it's old so not much computerization. So long as parts are only going to run me 300, I should be OK.

What's the availability on the parts I need?
How tight are these things assembled? Will I have to dismantle everything to run the cables or will it be easy enough to just slip it through.
How much frustration should I expect with brakes?

Really the only question that matters is, if you had the time, valued the education, didn't need to make money only break even, and got to drive it a little in between so you got some entertainment out of it, would you do it?

Subjective answer I know, but with snowmobiles I generally know already what I'm getting myself into, so I've been able to pick up cheap sleds, fix them, drive them, and sell them for break even or better if you don't count time or gas or regular maintenance. What are the chances of being able to do that here?

If all the tires hold air, the risk of it going way overbuget are pretty low. If it were in as good a shape as it looks. I would do it for the education.

There seems to be a theme here, "not an awful idea".

Now my biggest question is, where do I source the parts from, new is NOT required.

With the plastics looking the way they do, what is the cost benefit analysis on getting new/different ones that are in one piece?

You can get maier fenders at most any Atv shop. Cables and brakes too. Call around could save you some gas money.
