The Marines replaced the M249 SAW with a M27 (HK416) several years ago both are 5.56 The M27 has the basic lines of the M-16/AR-15 and look nothing like the HK 91

The HK 91 is a semi-auto version of the HK G3. Both are 7.62

Nice rifle there rws !!
I was down in East Grand Forks just yesterday for a shoot there, great bunch of guys and a nice range too.
Used my 9mm carbine in the rifle portion, ended up in 5th place overall (of 29), but that 91 would have been sweet to have as well.

Thanks.

I tried shooting an IDPA event at the EGF Rod and Gun Club many years ago. I think it was a 2 gun shoot that day...pistol and side match shotgun. Some of the shooters there were pretty fast. It's a discipline that takes lots of practice and I never pursued it.

What is the procedure to bring firearms across the border now a days?

It was a similar match, IDPA pistol in the morning and carbines in the afternoon. I placed 3rd in the IDPA event and considering I was using 10rd mags compared to everyone else's 30 rounders, feel I did well in rifle.
IDPA is for ALL skill levels. You should give it a try again, they hold events every month.

The procedure was actually very straightforward.
Applied for a Form 6NIA through the ATF. You have to list everything that you would like to bring across. Took just over 2 weeks to process, approve and return.
Arrived at the border early just in case we were held up, but the CBP officer obviously knew her stuff, checked our paperwork and had us through in a couple minutes.
Had plenty of time left to get gas and hit the Timmies for coffee and breakfast.
