Cell Phone Boosters

Any one know of a good booster for a pick up? I travel the grunthal Steinbach and southeast area for work and the service there is shit. I was looking at the f@#$&# tower and couldn,t make a call. The Source has one for $120. Its like a Phone holder that plugs into a lighter. Made by Wilson.
Anyone have any feed back? Thanks

The wilson boosters were good when i was way up north...they were around $350 though, but may have been a different model. The one we had was a little pad that you held to your phone. And up by jenpeg, cross lake, there were barely any towers....with the booster, it was bumped up to 3 to 4 bars steady with no dropped calls. Ya, i have telus, and around grunthal sarto it's a little sketchy. Did u ever hire another person to help you out at work rob?

Definately stick with the Wilson boosters. You pay a little extra for them, but they are a step above the rest.

Wilson for sure. make sure you get the 900/1800MHz booster. It handles 3G realy well.

Sorry to hijack. But I have a question about boosters. My Dad lives in GreatFalls which is out of range of the LacDuBonnet and the Pine Falls towers. How much gain or range could I expect from a booster?

They do make a pretty big improvement, but they do need SOME signal to work with. If you stand on the roof, or highest point in your yard and your phone says "searching for signal" it probably won't work very well. If your phone looks like it can see the tower, just no bars, it'll probably work somewhat, if you have one or two bars at the highest point, it'll probably work really well. Proper installation makes a big difference too, probably the most important is to make sure you have good seperation between the two antennas so they don't interfere with one another. You will probably want to get the outside antenna as high as possible, even put it on a pole on top of the house or a tower. And a directional outdoor antenna pointed at the nearest cell tower (use a GPS to figure out which way to point it) can make a big difference in performance.
