Looking at installing a wood burning fireplace. Any recommendations for contractors in the westman area?

what installations do you need. Just cutting a hole for a chimney? We just tiled a corner floor....put it x ft away from the drywall and it was done.

I'm looking for the whole package. A good place to purchase the fire place, and someone to do the install. It's not going on an outside wall, so it maybe a little tricky.

Just to clarify, are you looking for a fireplace, or a woodstove? If fireplace I would seriously recommend an insert. I have a fireplace and it's not worth putting wood in it as you get next to no heat out of it. I'll be putting an insert in within the next couple years as the way it is now is useless.

An acquantence of mine owns Ye Old Hearth Shop in St James. I've heard some great things from his customers. You can give him a shout. He does everythings from chimney cleaning to full custom installs and retrofits. He'll at least tell you what you need for the job and then you can shop around if you like.

Since you are installing an insert, insurance companies will classify them the same as a freestanding wood stove. Your insurance policy may be subject to a surcharge and at the very minimum you will need an inspection by a WETT certified inspector to check out the system before they insure you, or they may require the entire install to be done by a certified installer.
To find a local WETT certified installer in your area do a search on the WETT inc. website. http://www.wettinc.ca/search.html FYI I am certified, but I am in the far East side of the Province, |
