''mineral block" isn't that baiting? pretty brave posting your hunting in front of your "mineral lick"? any chance your south of town?

Lots of does and yearlings around. They seem to be into the acorns around the cabin. No bucks to speak of yet. I caught one on the cam a while ago but have not seen him since.

Lots of coyotes ........... shit all over the place........on the road and quite near the cabin. Our Lab. ***** was in heat so that most likely had something to do with their proximity to the cabin.

Also seeing a lot of Grouse around as well.

lots in the S.E. corner of the province as well but skitish (sp?) as all get out.

Any noise or movement and they are gone in a flash leaving no time to raise a bow/rifle or whatever. Guessing the high population of road hunters and wolves have them well trained.

Also wolf population is high. Last weekend at least 2 came up to the edge of our cabin at 6a and got our rotti a little more than excited. Left nice tracks in the sand...then at 10a as we were sitting on our deck 3 came up to our fence line about 150m away and were about to come into the yard again and the dog in the cabin caught wind of them and they were gone in a flash. Hear them howling nightly now.

Feels like deer hunting is going to have to be in the open areas this year as the bush deer seem like they woun't be giving us anytime to get a bead on them.

x2 on the yoties in the interlake, they are all around me in the bush, at dusk they start howling then the deer start moving, it's like a alarm clock for them. I know one guy killed over 200 coyotes last winter and that didn't even put a dent in the population.

I did see a big doe on Sunday night, I decided to get off the stand a little early for some reason and there she was. 30 yds away.

I've been seeing lots around the St.Adolphe/Mitchell areas, but nowhere that i'm allowed to hunt.

I'm checking with conservation as I heard a rumour about a coyote bounty, but there is little evidence online to prove this is true. I will repost when I get confirmation from Conservation.

I talked to conservation (Steinbach office) and there is not a coyote bounty for South East, but you'd have to talk to your local RM/Conservation office as they may have a local one happening. Tag limits are same as usual... one per deer tag.
