We are an authorized repair depo for Applied Communications. There fore you are correct, we do send our radio repairs & Peak and Tunes to a tech. He does great work and been around for years. We do offer SWR checks with an appointment and we do provide installs on full systems or individual components. Generally we require booking an appointment for any install.

Good Luck with the project!

Ya I have one as well and agree they have their place. Most guys in your fleet will share the same channels but in order to get loaded on the channels you need permission from whoever has that channel. So if I meet a friend on the hwy that works for a different company I can chat for a bit without having to have a 2way that matches theirs.

Most guys don't run on company channels. They use Ladd 1 or channel 5 or 6 in Ont. Don't need permission to use them.

Partly true...5,6 and 9 are wood haul channels. While they are publicly available, overuse especially near a busy haul road is a no no. The purpose of them is to keep 1 lane roads safe for logging traffic. They do require a license and crtc does occasionally enforce it. That being said, I have a couple hotrodded ham radios with these channels programmed into them.

I was wondering if these radios your all talking about are VHF radios?? I use mine for hunting, and they work great. I have a humminbird, and a uniden, both are handhelds.

cobra is made in china, uniden is made in japan. if you open the two up you would pick the uniden over the cobra. the board is much higher quality. you're radio is way better.

I could help you with this..

first things first...Have you checked your cb's SWR?

as for peaking and tuning.. I mean, 4 watts.. 6 watts.. wont notice a difference!!

CB is sooo 70's! don't know why they haven't moved on from this crap yet... at least vhf is starting to come to light SLOWLY!!
If I had my way, trucks would be on UHF now.. using them like they use Cb's!

as for the POWERBAND rfx 75.. I don't use that.. If u wanna run more power then i recommend you just get a linear amplifier! Very ez to hook up and use. No need to open the radio and remove finals etc..

I personally run 300 watts in the truck, BUT 99% of the time its on low 100 watts as other trucks are to close and it over powers them... UNLESS they are running power, then your power is useless... know what I mean! think of it this way.. YOUR yelling down the street meanwhile they are whispering back...
Make sense?

The Cobra 29 was a good radio when it was made in the Philippines but since they started making them in China your right the board is only half as thick. The Uniden has become more popular since then.

I just picked up a uniden 78 ltd supposedly boosted to 24 watts. Regardless my issues are my fm 2 way radio seems to be wrecking havoc on my sat radio an cb. My swr aren't as low as they can be. When I key the cb on dual antenna that aren't tuned its at 1.5-2 swr. On single antenna it runs around 2. When I key my fm radio it spikes the swr meter on my cb an will sometimes shut my sat radio off. I dunno if the radio is over powering my sat radio antenna an causing it to kick out an the same to my cb? My sat radio antenna is on the passenger side and fm radio is on driver side about 8" away from cb antenna. When I connect single coax to single antenna on passenger side the fm radio has less effect on the cb.

Yeah, do you know what frequency the 2 WAY radio is??

An swr meter is only good for the band its made for.. ie cb, VHF, UHF etc.. so using it for checkin yor 2 way wont help ya none.. If you tell me the company u work for I can tell you what band they are on (pm me if you want)

as for the 2-way cutting out your sat radio.. that's just overpower interference.. cant do much about that! also known as garbage radio

now as for the boosted 78LTD... Boosted how? tweaked.. if tweaked then most youll get out of it is about 6-8 watts MAX! Ill bet my house its no-where near 24

PS: as for swr 1.5-2 on CB, that's not too bad!! BUT what is swr on channel 1 and on 40?
once you figure that out then adjust it best for channel 20!

are you gravel hauler?
