looking to buy a camper, looking for something around $3000 , I need it for St. Jean next year, have been thinking about a 5th wheel , have never had one, my truck does have air bags but wondering about hitch wait verses a reg hitch type trailer, I think about a 22 ft would work for me.........whats your opinions........the thought that I could pull my rzr at the same time sounds good to me,

I have a 22 ft I bought for that idea..but do far I can't get the towed trailer to pull straight..80km and the rzr on the trailer goes nuts..the fifth pulls beautify no matter what though. I'm pretty pissed I can't get it to work. I tried 3 different trailers tried loading the rzr many different ways..ttied flipping the trailer axles..even welded the hitch to the receiver to eliminate slop but nothing works..i have one more thing to try then I give up.
.some say the 5th wheel is too short?

The hitches should be the same. If you have a shortbox truck, fifth wheels can be difficult. Usually not enough room to turn without the trailer hitting the back of the cab.

You can buy a sliding 5th wheel hitch for that exact reason. It can be adjusted in a tight spot to give you turning room.
Also keep in mind, you CAN NOT pull a trailer behind a ball hitch RV trailer. In other words you cant pull 2 trailers from a ball hitch set up. You can however pull a trailer behind a 5th wheel hook up.
Check it out before you commit.

When towing a trailer in Manitoba with a fifth wheel the combined weight of the two cannot be more than twice the weight of the tow vehicle as per mpi regulations. I'm thinking if you were to have an accident and you were overloaded you may not be insured.

Bumper hitch leaves your truck box empty, if you want to throw some bikes, or a quad in there. There are pros and cons to both, otherwise they wouldn't both exist.

5th wheel or hitch type

we have a 28' hitch type trailer, but my Xp 1000 don't fit in my truck, we had to make 2 trips to St. Jean to get it there and 2 to get it all back home so even if my truck is going to get a little worse fuel millage its still going to be better, so I think a smaller 5th wheel with my rzr behind sounds great.........but lots to learn before jumping in.................

i have seen that happen even with a bigger 5th wheel trailer, not sure why it happens. Saw one so bad that the back trailer almost flipped.

I also heard if the front trailer is lighter than the rear that will happen. Not sure if that is the case here.

That big motor home that was at kims, would b perfect for that.
Or... how about a sled deck, that goes on top of the truck box?

Front trailer 4600 lbs rear trailer around 3000 lbs..im going to get the fifth to ride level with the truck again with the axle flip as stock it's not..it pulled better when axles were flipped.. then I'll work on getting the rear trailer close to level. Then after that I'm at a loss..my buddy with 28 ft can't pull a trailer straight no matter what either.

And your point Is? All 5th wheels have brakes..and I guess you mean all sled trailers should have brakes even if they are sold without? I know my sled trailer doesn't have but my other trailer does. My boat trailer does not either..ez loader for heavy fishing boat.

This is what the rzr is on.

If the back trailer is swaying a lot. Look at you distance from your back ball to the axle of the first trailer. Any bit of sway even a non noticeable amount in your front trailer will make a big movement at the trailer ball for the second trailer. I have noticed this on a long vs short draw bar pulling same trailer with same truck. And im only talking 6 inch difference.

Point is if you are pulling a trailer that weighs over 2,004 lbs it requires brakes. Whether it be a fifth wheel or the trailer towed by the fifth wheel. Try telling a Dot officer, "YOUR POINT IS" let me know how that works for you lol.
