Cross border shopping info

Just some info to share with you.....if your going across shopping and you stay for 24 hours,you are allowed $200 duty free.....BUT if you exceed the $200 (lets say $214) then you are charged on the whole amount of $214 and not the $14 you would think.......This is not the case if your there for more then 48 hrs though.

I figure I would spend 150.00 on a hotel and meals.... I usually go for the day and pay tax. Never paid more than 70.00 in tax.

They ask for total purchases. Your hotel, gas & meals are excluded from that.
