3 Day Ride Review

Just an outstanding 3 day ride !! Funny how all of our machines recorded slightly different mileage totals. Track sizes were 137's and 144's. Polaris, Arctic Cat and Skidoo were all represented. My total on the Polaris was 761 miles. Of those miles I'd say 700 were either groomed and/or freshly groomed and we were the first ones on. Passed a groomer on every day we were out.

RWS and I covered the 3 days. Guest appearances were made by backwoods500 on the ride out of Warroad,MN and Catdog800, vinny, and FireGuy06 out of West Hawk Lake to Nopiming.

Day 1:

Up at 4:30am and trailered from Stony Mountain, MB to Warroad, MN for a 9:30 start. Everyone was on time and off we went. Conditions were excellent....tons of snow in Minnesota. We hit Baudette, International Falls and Rainer before turning north to Canada for lunch in Ft. Frances, ON. The lake international border crossing/customs was via telephone on Rainy Lake at Ft. Frances. From there it was on to Emo, ON and back into the USA at Baudette, MN at a more traditional land crossing border station. From there it was back to Warroad, MN but not without a stop at the famous Igloo Bar on Lake of the Woods. For those that have never been there before, the bar is out on the US side of the lake in the middle of nowhere. Full up food, alcohol, 2 big screen tv's and holes in the floor that you can ice fish while you eat and drink !! Unreal !! Back on the trailer in Warroad at 10:00pm and in the hotel by 10:30pm. 275 miles.

Day 2:

Up at 5:30am and trailered back to Canada to West Hawk Lake, MB for another 9:30 start. Today's route would be the Nopiming Loop via Whiteshell Provincial Forest. Once again, conditions were excellent. The skis clipped more rocks in the first 10 miles than they did all the previous day but that's typical Whiteshell riding. West Hawk to Falcon Lake, Rennie, north loop up to Nopiming Lodge for lunch. Vinny treated himself to the Nopiming famous Big Bird Burger.....no fries !!! From there it was down to Seven Sisters, Whitemouth, Elma, Falcon Lake and back to West Hawk Lake for a late night snack. At the hotel at 10:15pm. 280 miles.

Day 3:

Up at 7:45 for another 9:30 roll time. We actually got away early at 9:10am. From West Hawk to Kenora, ON,......today was going to be a ride on the infamous Pipeline Trail or "A" Trail East. Once again this roller coaster trail did not disappoint as it was freshly groomed and we were the first ones on. Up and down, at times your stomach in your throat and your heart beating hard in your chest, and we weren't even going fast !! Slow was the order of the day to take it all in as the temperature was a balmy +2C or 36F. Rode without handwarmers for most of the day. From the Pipeline we rode the L102 to Andy Lake and back to Kenora, Falcon Lake and finally West Hawk. On the trailer at 6:30pm. 206 miles.

Just a spectacular 3 days of riding. There is tons of snow out there if you are willing to just go out and find it. Thanks to everbody who came out on the maiden voyage of my new snowmobile. Can't thank the clubs and volunteer groomers enough for grooming, signing, and maintaining the trails to keep us all safe out there. THANKS A TON !!

We had no breakdowns or mechanical issues. My headlights and taillight were flashing intermittently which turned out to be a bad heated visor cable shorting the electrical system....replaced cable.....good to go. One sled needed a tap or two with a hammer to wake up it's starter. Otherwise we were golden !!

761 total miles. Home last night at 9:30 pm. 2 muscle relaxants, a beer, and 45 minutes in the hot tub.........still sore this morning!!!

PS. Thanks to Ross for plotting each day's route. I'm using his GPS pics.

I'm already planning rides for Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

I'm a tad jealous but glad everyone had a good time and no issue....well except for you and your cables, Nelson. But that's nothing new for you is it, lol! At least it wasn't -30 this time haha. I may not have hit the trails on a sled but I have been enjoying the warm spell on the ski trails.

Flashing lights were freaky and really had me pissed off. I think I'm good to go now.

Hope you're enjoying the Pro S. I went with the ProX as the S was just a little too soft when it comes to suspension for aggressive riding and ditch banging, esp. At 6'3" 240lbs lol. Both machines are just awesome though.

Just saw your message on HCS. Damn visor cables.

Funny on the mileage, did you get the IDD w/ gps on yours? I have it and logged 40 miles more than buddies 2015 assault 800 during nearly identical rides. Has me wondering about that IDD.

Cheers
