Lake of the Woods Speedway Project (Kenora, ON)

Hi everyone,

I was referred to this site from our Facebook page to help get the word out about the Lake of the Woods Speedway Project.

We are currently developing a piece of property east of the city of Kenora into a racing facility.

The location is on the Jones Rd, north of CP Rail between the bypass and main hwy. About a 10 minute drive east of downtown Kenora.

The plan is to have an oval "medium" 3/8 mile clay/dirt oval for stock car racing (4-Cylinders, Pure Stocks, and Midwest Modifieds), demo derbies, go-karts (inside of the main track) and other possible events, with sled racing, sno-cross, and 4-Cylinder ice racing as possibilities in the winter.

The current proposal is a grandstand that will seat approx. 2,200 people with pit stands to fit up to 300-350 with possible expansions. Concessions are planned as well.

Racing is tentatively planned for Friday nights (7pm Hot Laps, Racing at 7:30) for stock car racing. Other events such as Demo Derbies, go-karts, etc. may be scheduled for other dates/times. Winter events have yet to be decided for race nights.

You can help make this facility a reality by donating at www.gofundme.com/lowspeedway with various awards given for your donation. :)

If you are interested in investing? Please let us know.

You can also become a volunteer, donate supplies/equipment or show support by emailing lowspeedwayproject@gmail.com or messaging us on the Fan Page.

Plans are subject to change.

If you have any questions, please reply to this thread.

Welcome to the site. Hopefully people understand what you're creating!! I know many people that enjoy attending dirt track racing.

And a 3/8 mile oval!!!!!!! Best size track racing. Same as grand forks, and that is just crazy intense racing! Keep us posted as the project advances. This is great news for many of us that do riding and vacations there. Another attraction to take in!! Good job.

Kenora Hospitality Alliance Teams Up with Lake of the Woods Speedway Project
Media Release
Friday, October 21, 2016

Lake of the Woods Speedway Project is pleased to announce that the Kenora Hospitality Alliance (KHA) has committed to a major sponsorship.
While site prep has occurred throughout the last several months, this funding will lead to the completion of site plan and design. The construction phase will then follow.

Chair of the KHA, Teresa Gallik says, “We are pleased to become a part of this project and help make it a reality. We recognize that having another entertainment option will support more visits to Kenora and make sure people keep coming back to enjoy the wonderful things we have to offer.”
Anthony Leek, organizer of the project, says it is very welcome news to have the KHA on board.

“This is a real boost to the progress of the facility. The KHA is recognizing the benefits to the local and tourist economy this venue will bring to the area. I am very pleased to begin this relationship with the hospitality group.”

The KHA hosts www.stayinkenora.com, providing packages and information for visitors and patrons to hotels, events, activities and organizations in the Kenora area.

With the Kenora Hospitality Alliance, Moncrief Construction Limited, and Best Way Rentals, as well as support of other businesses and individuals, the Lake of the Woods Speedway Project continues to make solid progress.
