Wildfire's again

As most people on this site know we haven't had much rain since June or July, those of us that are Volunteer Fire Fighters or work on the Provincial Government's Initial Attack crews have been pretty busy fighting grass fires and bush fires. I blame a lot of it on general human stupidity but unlike some I don't blame it on ATV enthusiasts. Today despite having to go to the city to do some shopping I couldn't help notice to the east of town here it was quite smokey as it has been off and on over the last few days. Well turns out that there have been some pretty bad bush fires by Roseau River (the town) so far all I know other than several Fire Departments are fighting it is from Steinbach Online and crews have been called out again tonight as the fires have rekindled.

Please be careful out there guys make us look good don't let us become scape goats for the media.

Ya that was in my backyard neighbor had some fireworks and they amazingly lit the 3' tall dry grass on fire go figure! Good thing my pond still had some water then used a leaf blower got most of the south fire put out then the fire department took care of the fire going north. Only good thing about is my son found a 5 point shed in the bush that burnt.

Yeah the leaf blowers work pretty good for the most part as long as you don't have a driving wind. I hope it's all under control now, I don't see any plumes of smoke wafting past our place today.

Well the wind is out of the north now. Just felt a few drops of what I think is either rain or bird piss outside a few minutes ago.

After two or three weeks of chasing grass fires and the big fires by St. Malo its pretty nice to see all this snow. Maybe we'll get some water back in the Rat River or Joubert Creek.
