How dirty of a tank? I have used a pressure washer with really hot water, nearly steam. Car wash would also work. Then rinse with gas.

Pine sol eats old gas. Soak it overnight.

can also stick a rag in there and blow it around, it will wipe the inside clean, hook it with a piece of wire to drag it out, then rinse!

I bought a used 1997 Kodiak, and when I was syphoning out the old gas there was a little bit of opaque brown sludge - not sure what it was. The ATV sat a lot, only has 1500km, so I'm just going thru it before winter. I'm taking out the gas tank so I can check/set the valves, so I'm gonna rinse out the tank. I'll wipe it out with a rag as best I can, then use brake cleaner as I got some in the garage, and then blow it dry with compressed air.

Ok, clean the tank and set the valves, exhaust was tight & intake was a little loose. There is a little less ticking now. The Kodiak runs like a champ, with the exception of a little almost clank sound after the starter disengages on start up and a little bit louder when the engine is shut off - don't know what this sound is.

But anyways, the gas had a little bit of small particles of crap and opaque brown sludge, but I've never seen this before, the gas was yellow, like the color of a beer. Anyone know why gas would turn yellow?
