Those stories of it tracking in on shoes is bogus. I find more comes in on the cars and shoes with Limestone. I have zero in my garage since I have put it in.

If it is so bad why is it given an environmental approval by multiple US and Canadian agencies?

So knowing you work there, that makes you a professional on the effects of it , if any. Back up your statements with fact not just IMO.

I read several articles and other pages where it has and is being used as a base for road building.

I am sure it isn't any worse than the asbestos filled steel mill in Selkirk.

There is a product in slag, crystalline silica, that can be harmful with long term exposure. It is also in limestone that everyone uses as well.

Sorry to hear about your loss... Not trying to get into a banter bash with anyone... Just giving my opinion... And as for asbestos, it was supposably removed but as far as that went I am not 100% sure. I try to do my best not to expose myself to the conditions by wearing proper PPE... But every job is dangerous in one way or another... Shit happens... Can die at anytime... Not just at work. If I lived in a bubble I'd probably die cause someone forgot to add a fresh air vent. Do the best we can and stay as safe as possible... Just live life to the fullest cause we all have expiry dates. Some sooner than others.

It hasnt been completely removed. I did alot of research and talked to the ocal Union and the head of the Steelworkers Union in Alberta after my dad passed from the asbestos exposure for 46 years. They told me that it has not been completely removed and will remain if undisturbed.
If you go back and see alot of the old retired guys, and the younger retired guys are passing on from lung related issues. There is currently a lawsuit regarding these ilnesses.

I don't think you'll need to use a packer... It's almost like glass... Just drive your vehicle over it and it will compact nicely. As it crushes it gets tighter. But a compactor would do a nice even job. Just remember the more you crush it the grains get smaller and turn into dust which will carry in the wind and track on your shoes.

I have it at the lake. I like it. Looks good, weeds don't grow through it and it doesn't track in any kind of dust or muck.

I can rent a packer for $35 I think he said for 4 hours. $50 for the day. I will get it done before the snow falls.
