Anything can be done coring through granite will be big bucks .Also logistics may also be price factor aswell. Costs are big moving machinery around. A few years ago A job I was on had 8" sewer pipe pushed about 90ft cost was $ 5500 that was through mud.

thank you Bob, I don't think I have the expertise or directional drill to drill granite.

But OP can still give me a call, I may be able to help if I have all the details.

There isn't a Horizontal Directional Drill capable of drilling through Pre-Cambrian shield only way to bury a line is drill and blast I'm afraid.

Cause with heat trace, the line will run from under the cottage, on top of the rock then drop 12’ to the water, all being exposed

Drilling thru granite is an extremely slow and costly process.
Get some insulated pipe encased in a weeping tile pipe and run heat trace inside.
I've done it for many out in the whitshell where drilling is not possible.
Never had a complaint about freeze up.
And yes I do drilling to.

Heat trace on a drain back system...needs a tank in the cottage (say 100 gallon minimum..1000 would be better)...the heat trace only keeps about 8 ft of line heated instead on the whole line....

a friend of mine has one at Beauty Bay (his lift is about 100 ft vertically from the lake)... anyway have a look here...

see winter water systems..
