There were a few years of FST which had issues. I believe the later years were much more reliable. They are arguably the fastest sled Polaris has ever built.

Winslow has a spectacular aura aboutWinslow has a spectacular aura about
One thing we all need to realize is that we enjoy our brands, just like cars/trucks

When Polaris had the four stroke, they had power and mileage

Hold on before we all get on the band wagon

Brother in-law had a four stroke apex and his son had the Polaris four stroke

Polaris was able to drive another 18 miles longer before running out of fuel ..

I enjoy driving Polaris two stroke -- lighter -- yet I have friends that drive Cats 800 crossfire -- bullet proof for fuel mileage

criksidebob -- I enjoy your input -- you still help anyone even if its not a CAT

I totally agree. Some of thier best engines were fuji. I miss those days. If they were to do another 4stroke, it should be farmed in,like cat

Last time around Polaris bought Wagner engines out of Germany for the FST.Guess who owns Wagner engines.Textron.Everything comes full circle.

Those Fuji engines were great engines. When Polaris switched from the Hirth and JLO engines to the Fuji they started a trend. Most manufacturers went to Japanese engines.Cat tried Kawasaki engines with poor success and in the mid 70's they went Suzuki and never looked back till they made a deal to build sleds for Yamaha.I will miss those Suzuki engines having said that what we have now won't take a back seat to the Suzuki.

Hey xcr700

Polaris shold have stayed with what they knew ---

I had a 2006 Fusion 900 -- that they had power to blow -- steering on the lake
was stupid .. you needed the back forty to make a turn... When the engine decide
to break... not even the dealer knew how to fix the problem...

Stayed loyal to the brand and purchased a 2009 IQ 800 -- Engine is much better, fuel
mileage is nothing to write home about...

My friend RWS has Cat -- Some of them purr great and some you hope the lake open up and takes them away...

Oh well life goes on ...

I agree ,polaris should have stayed with what they knew. They've been "updating "the cfi since 10 . Sounds like they finally got the ho figured out and sounds like it will be a good engine. I've always been with poo and they've never let me down. Had one cat ,03 zr900,amazing sled . In all reality ,it boils down to what works for you. Or what you prefer.
Guys could go on all day about how the cfi is junk ,but there's a ton of guts out there who haven't any issues ,me included. Same could be said about the 12 cats and belt blowing . Not all do it. BUT we sure like to throw it in each other's face

when we were out riding this season we ran into the Polaris test rider guys twice. Once in Moose lake and the other time in wood ridge. One of the machine most certainly did not sound like a two stroke. So time will tell I don't think it will be 2019 more like the anniversary year in 2020. I think the new titan AYXS is wide enough to put the new 4 stroke in.

It's too bad the relationship between Polaris and KTM did not continue.

Having an Outlaw 525 irs in the collection, glue 2 of those together and stuff it in a frame, and hang on!

As I am getting older (and turning into Matlock fans like my sled buddies) I too am thinking of a 4 stroke in my future.

I do hope Polaris comes out with one that is exciting, and will have good reliability, and good serviceability. Lets hope they do alot of R&D to hit it out of the park!

I'm thinking they are going to stuff a Prostar 1000, and a Prostar 1000 Turbo in there 4 stroke sleds.

Shoe.

KTM motor absolutely rules.
I had 2 predators, 1 500 outlaw, 2 525 irs outlaws, and one 450 outlaw. Outlaw 500 and predators with pipe, and custom air intakes, jetting, geared down were good, bone stock 450 outlaw would walk all over them. 525 IRS outlaw stock would walk all over them also. I did air intake, pipe, cam, jetting on my 525 IRS and the 500 outlaw didn't even stand a chance.

So in the end, thread derailed, KTM motors rule, Polaris bring back the outlaw I need a new one to add to the stable, I wasn't IRS still.

Graft 3 KTM RFS motors together to make a 1500cc 3cyl 4 stroke that runs under 8000 rpm and makes about 150hp and install in the Swithback Assault for me.
