We all agree to disagree on what maintenance is on a sled. ya chain case oil, bearings, rings, pistons, grease. Just got to say one thing over looked on most machines is the shocks. Every one expects not to look at them for the life of the sled. Problem is sleds are lasting longer than expected. Now ride quality comes into play. You call your machine a POS or you think you need a new one because it handles like crap. In most cases all it needs is the shocks re built. Then you will love your machine all over again. Last week we did the tin pan trail. I had a heck of a time controlling my sled. I know why now the front shocks were bagged. There was a ton of oil in the nitro chamber and air in the shock instead of oil. yes I rebuild shocks but have not had time to look at my own machine. Now I have redone them. I also am trying full synthetic oil to see if they last longer. shocks are charged with nitrogen anywhere from 150psi to 320psi. with skidoo hpg's at 300 psi. I have a chart for most shocks of ifp depths and nitrogen charges. also have the tools to do them . Lots of good shock tech's out there. with ton's of experience. one day I hope to own a shock dyno to take what I am learning to a new level. Because in the end no mater what you ride it is about the ride.
Happy trails
