Contractors in the Interlake

Something that's always drove me crazy is the contractors out here. You could call 10 places for one job,2 may return your call ,1 might show. Totally unlike the city . Anyone else have problems with contractors out here ?

Agree 101% next to impossible at times to get a contractor to go north of Selkirk. I have tried to get service out of the Gimli/Arborg area not much better. Like to try and support the local guys when ever I can.

That's awesome to know ,but so far we are caught up on getting stuff done.. the wife and I were just talking about how impossible it is to get a good contractor out here, who and I can't strees this enough ,IS RELIABLE lol...I'll definitely keep you in mind for future things . Stuff we've had problems with....
Fence guy, door installers, electricians, roof guy ,holding tank colar repair guy ( ongoing battle with local idiot contractor lol)
We've eventually found these people, ones that actually show up and return calls, they're just few and far between.

I see the problem where I live. I worked in the industry for over 10 years for a general contractor starting as labourer, to carpenter to supervisor. Most the work we did was commercial. Seven oaks addition, most the coops on Winnipeg, water treatment plants, schools stuff like that. But I have met all different kinds of people. An living out here in the Interlake it's sad to see the caliber of contractors. No competition results in high rates and poor reliability. I do work for people when i get the time but it's hard. An I don't make bs promises either. I try show what it takes to get to where things should be. Also don't cut corners and so used to commercial where it's precise and overbuilt. People don't think the need for precision matters I guess.

Quite honestly, it's seems that if you don't have 80 things that need done when they come ,they don't bother .

I hope I'm not interfering in this thread but I was looking for someone to help me install metal roofing on my house.......any recommendations out there since we're on the topic of reliable contractors?

FeelTheThunder will become famous soon enough
I am a drywall contractor and will be up that way in a couple weeks in Odin Green, no problem for me but I only do new houses, perhaps big additions. I went to Still Cove Rd. (lac du Bonnet) a couple years ago. I just charge a little more for traveling and all is good.

I've had the direct opposite experience. I've only lived in the Interake for 2 years but the local contractors I have needed have been responsive, timely, and have done a very good job.

Ritchie & Perrin Plumbing - Stonewall: water softner & reverse osmosis system installation

Watts Homes LTD - Stonewall: New home construction, interior/exterior
renovations and general contracting - roofing

K-Indu Ltd. Welding - Stonewall - Aluminum Welding

Waring Enterprises - Stonewall: sand, rock, soil, decorative stone

I now have a mechanic in Stonewall who is a certified Polaris and Yamaha Powersports mechanic

I'm trying to use as many local people as I can as my needs arise.

I know that Watts Homes does work in the Whiteshell and Nopiming and he may be doing some work for me at the cottage in Ontario.

We had our roof done in metal by Sudden Impact construction and I'm happy with the job overall. They do a lot of general contracting, pole buildings, decks, etc.

Brother is MB contracting out of Winnipeg beach Matlock area. I can vouch for him personally. He does a lot of cottage work in the area. Does the job right and prides himself on it. Has a ton of references for his work.
