All he was doing was just crossing? I'm gonna say if he was just crossing he wouldn't have gotten hit. Just saying

I wonder why the injured sledder can't file a claim with mpic through personal injury program instead of a gofundme page if trucker was 100% at fault?
The police can download ecm of semi and it will tell them how fast he was going at the time of accident. It will also tell them when he left Brandon.

Ecm in a truck doesn't record this information. Either an elog or gps if the truck has either but ecm won't store that data.

Yes meant onboard tracking systems. In our case it's Peoplenet.

They may be able to legally cross the highway but they should probably also check if anyone's coming lol

you cannot legally cross a hwy anywhere you like, and when you do it is a direct route across. Lots of mistakes made by all here, plenty of blame to spread around. Root cause was crossing the hwy when unsafe to do so. Contributing factors are numerous, but when dealing with autopac it's always 50/50 anyway so no argument there.( if you take your adjusters word for anything).

Alright I haven't chimed in for a while. The sled driver.. Not the sled. Pulled a stunt on a major highway. Pulling a spin about and got nailed literally should the semi have been traveling on that Rd nope, maybe ? I dunno. All I know for sure is the spin around donought on the highway was no accident. Wether that particular person got a call from the rcmp to go help or not.. That was a dumb move period. Fortunately they weren't killed. Anyone that has their panties in a knot about anyone questioning the fact that the sled driver was not to be there and pulled a stupid stunt on a paved road is short of a full load so to speak.

If that was a quad omfg. Where the hell is visonator. I thought for sure that particular person would be all over this..... Oh wait that's right it wasn't a quad. Roast me hate me I don't give two shits!!! Be careful out there and remember be responsible for your own actions. The sled driver... Not the sled f@cked up. It's the truth.

I can pretty much guarantee one thing I'm glad I wasn't pulling illegal doughnuts on the highway in front of a semi

Safety always needs to be your first thought, especially on the highway. The simple fact that there were already three vehicles (one in the ditch) at the scene would be enough reason to expect more traffic on the road way.
It is truly fortunate that the victim is alive and will heal from his injuries, I wish him well and for a speedy recovery.
You can't assume anything. open or closed traffic gets by all the time. (white car in the ditch??)
Look both ways then look again, don't create a hazard if you are assisting at a crash.
I have seen too many close calls at crashes on the highway.

And honestly I have no idea if the guys who were using snowmobiles to perform assistance were firefighters or just guys helping out, whats with all the labels? what does it matter what they were riding, if they were on horseback would they be cowboys? They were simply using a practical vehicle considering the circumstances.

ahh yes the RIGHT
see this all the time
I am here because i have the RIGHT and the rest of the world can wait.
just cause your within your rights does not make it smart.
drive a bicycle around the perimeter ? its your right - no thanks, not me.
press the crosswalk button and start crossing ?
well they SHOULD stop right ? if not they would be breaking the law !!
light turns green - just start driving ? I'd go through too many trucks, and lives.
I dont know what the circumstances were to the truck being out there.
but if the sledders were in the RIGHT being out there. it obviously didnt stop the one from nearly being killed.
(note, there is no RIGHT about cranking a sled around in the middle of a hwy)

just saying, be as RIGHT as you want, still don't mean common sense can be overlooked.
you can be in the right but still end up dead or injured

I agree 100%. and if you read my original post in this thread you would see that.

me saying they had a right to be out there crossing highways and what not was in response to someone saying they shouldn't of been out there at all.

Gee, I don't know, maybe follow the ORV act when crossing the highway and park in the ditch, like they do the rest of winter? Besides, one car was in the ditch already and the other two were on the shoulder, which coincidentally is right beside the ditch.

You should try reading the ORV act. It has a lot of good ideas, like how not to get hit by a truck when crossing the road.

Bingo. Very well put.

How else would they get there!?? You actually think the sleds rode the highway the entire way when the ditch is full of snow. Lol. Wow.
