Seriously? Wonder what chassis they would use,or maybe a whole new sled? The triple rumor was a bust,so I'm not holding my breath on this one ,although I think it's a market segment poo is losing out on . I would consider one if it's reliable

I have a 500 Sportsman and 900 Razor and thise motors are indestructible so probably an easy mod to throw in the 900 or 1000 motor into a sled based on that design. I've had more two stroker sleds and rebuilds than I care to remember and now have a 1200 four stroker Ski Doo and would never go back. The four stroker should be good for a 100,000km and the sled should be long shot before the motor has issues.

When Cat was the first company to introduce 4 strokes with the 2000 model year Yellowstone special with the 660 Suzuki engine they started a trend that just keeps on rolling. We see 4 strokers with huge mileage. You could not wear out those Suzuki 4 strokes

All these 4 stroke sled makes have great track records. I had many sport quads and I had Kawasaki 400KFX with the 400cc Suzuki engine. That bike was wicked fast and I have never had a silkier smooth shifting tranny on any bike I've ever had. Friend of mine had a Yammy 4 stroke with 18,000 miles and never touched the motor and it ran like new so he ended up buying another one only because he wanted a new one. Good resale values as well. Another guy I know is a Ski Doo mechanic and he has never had to open up a 1200 engine either. And I'm sure the Yammy and Yamacat have similar track records.

I think Polarski is really missing the boat here. Sure advances in 2 smokers are occuring like in Ski Doo's new Next Gen 850 oil sipper 2 stroke but the jury is still out on if a table spoon or two of oil is just a little too lean.

I agree my poo atvs have all been indestructible engine wise . I just don't think poo wants to r&D anything for such a small segment. Although they would allow epa credits which would allow for a dirty 800 , maybe get one that lasts more than 5k,in some cases more, others less. The new ho seems pretty good tho

With the advances in 2 strokes in last 5 years why would you want a 4stroke. New 800 sleds get equal if not better fuel mileage and oil consumption is alot less. And they are reliable.

Have you ever run an 1100 turbo or the new zr9000 with that 998 turbo putting out over 200 hp.There is no 2 stroke sled that will come remotely close to that kind of performance.A customer of ours with a 2012 1100 turbo had a guy on a new Polaris 800 challenged him so they raced across Moose Lake and he told me it wasn't even remotely close. He claimed he had been a half mile ahead.

I gotta ask,who buys an 800 with the mindset of beating a turbo? Two completely different sleds for different purposes lol. In a short drag the 800 will likely be out in front ,but anything more.....why bother

I don't knock Polaris but we do talk about Cat.I raced Polaris in the past and sold them but any comment made seems like the Poo guys are so defensive which didn't use to be that way.The interesting thing is Cat wins more cross country races with less entrys then anybody else like 70% in the USXC circuit but that has nothing to do about the sleds its all about the riders.LOL.XCR 700 MAKES A GOOD POINT ,who compares the 800 to a turbo.having said that a lot of guys will challenge the turbos. As far as manufacturers go everybody realizes that you need a mixture of 4 strokes and 2 strokes in your model mix but we still and probably always will sell more 2 strokes then 4 strokes because some people prefer a lighter sled.I have run both and I own a 2 stroke but there is no adrenaline rush like trying to hang onto your handlebars when that 4 stroke turbo hooks up.

Thats what we sell and service. We also service all makes and we see how the different machines are built. Our Technicians have factory training on Yamaha,Polaris,Ski Doo and Cat.Combined they have 65 years of expierence so try and find that in anybody elses shop. This winter we did a lot of engine repairs and most of them were other brands and we are glad to do that work but its gives us insight on how they all are built.

Polaris is only down to 3 engines for this year, so a new 4 stroke makes sense now.

I agree. With all sled sales world wide as low as they are Polaris has made a good move with shortning their lineup as has Cat.Going forward a 4 stroke just makes good sense as they are missing that portion of the market that wants it.
