Been on the fords for years already. The others will copy and follow eventually. Buddy has had his on his platinum 150 for 3 years already. Never an issue and finds them very functional.

Hate to break it to you....but it's not a furd idea. They have been around for years as an accessory before furd put them on their trucks. Nobody is copying furd.....

Make sure you get an over ride switch with them as when they have frozen crap/mud on them I've heard of them burning the motor out. Lets you de-activate them!

Boards

I have had the same set for one year now, and love them. They work well and in my opinion are the best looking board around. The only issue i have had is gravel and rocks getting inside the pivot area. I drive alot of gravel so it is bound to happen. A little penetrating fluid one a month and its good to go. Slush and ice have never given me a problem.

I've bought and installed a set on my 2009 Ram. About 5 hours to install. I never cared for tubes or running boards but clearly needed something as when the family gets into the truck we all had to jump in. worth every penny.

A buddy of mine had these on his truck, they broke the first winter, he had an override switch but he forgot to turn them off, his truck sits little over knee high to the floor so he needed something as well, now he's got oval tubes and wouldn't go back, but thats his experience and opinion, I personally have no experience with them

AMP Research has a 5 year/60,000mile warranty on the powerstep. I also did a little research before purchasing them and we have a set that's been on one of our shop trucks for 2 years now without a problem and I spoke to another fellow who said his boards have no trouble breaking through ice buildup.
Maybe your friend wasn't aware of the warranty? $1100 is a lot to throw away after not even a year's use, just saying.

He bought the truck with them on so he won't have known about it, i should have said the first winter he had the truck, I'll have to let him know, do you know if that warranty is transferable?

even if it was transferable they would surely need to see the original receipt. Too bad though.
