Laser Eye Surgery?

I'm contemplating getting it done, has anyone on TS had it done? Pro's and Con's? Anything I should be worried about?

Thanks :-)

I had it done 3-4 years ago. Still at 20/20.
I healed very quickly (within 24 hrs) but they say take it easy for a full weekend.

Some people have itchy eyes for a few days but it goes away. It can also be a bit...stressful...because they give you alot of waivers to sign. They will always guarantee improvement, but never perfection. Although I don't know of anyone who ever regretted going.

Don't go for the cheap "discount" procedures, these are your eyes you talking about. My sister-in-law did and didn't heal as quick and was a quite painful recovery. A friend went for more expensive procedure and was perfect the next day. Both still have nearly 20/20 with no regrets.

My opinion, the very best money you will ever spend and worth every penny.
I want to send Sue in spring.

I'm interested as well... What kind of money are you talking? I know at one point it was very expensive but have heard it has come down? What kind of price are you looking at for the "expensive" one? Does anyone have any doctors they recommend going to or staying away from?

My consult is at Lasik MD. I was told that it's anywhere from $490-$990 per eye and the "expensive" was max $1790 (I think...I can't find my notes right now). The consult takes 2-3 hours.

A few of my co workers have had it done, the "expensive" procedure cost them 2G's an eye at both Lasik MD and Image Plus.

I too am contimplating having my eyes zapped.

Think they might give a group discount if a bunch of us walked in saying we wanted it done???

T- is that the "free" consultation they advertise or does this one cost you some coin?????

I paid $1500 per eye. It's your eyes, don't go cheap.

That's exactly why I'm torn about doing it. I wear contacts 7 days a week for 12 hours a day. I am OK with that but after 20+ years with glasses/contacts...I'm getting annoyed with them. LOL

When your eyes change as you age you will be back to glasses. All of a sudden I can't read small crap up close with my glasses on, with my contacts I simply can't focus up close. If I had done the eye surgery I would now need to carry reading glasses. I love contacts but what a helpless feeling now. Friggin age.

Curious about the ability to repeat the procedure, I thought it was not done.

I don't know for a fact that it can be re-done...someone had told me that once (unless I'm losing it - which is very possible)

juicedcummins will become famous soon enough
I had both my eyes done back in 97 and so far so good. Back then it was $2500 and eye for the Lasik procedure.
Be careful there is a quack out there doing this and has had his licence either revoked or suspended. This is the doctor that did mine[were fine], dads[trouble from procedure,no loss of site], and my wife[lucky she is not blind because of an infection and the 24 trouble call# was to some kid while the doc was in Grand Forks not taking ANY calls. This Doctors name is KADAMBI [spelling?]. He was run out of Brandon over some cataract work he was doing and have heard he might be doing lasik again in wpg.

I am happy with mine they turned out 20/10 and 20/15 which is way better than 20/20.

That would be this fella. I remember an older guy at work years ago that called him Kabumbi. LOL. On a more serious note "BE CAREFULL" you're only born with two of them. Good luck what ever you decide tandr2!
