Importing trailer

What's involved? Is a 5x8 steel mesh trailer exempt from RIV?

Thanks.

RIV is a government money grab. I don't think any licenceable vehicle is exempt. I had to pay on my wee trailer last year. Good luck

the only way anything is exempt from RIV is if its older then 15 years.

It would not be exempt Just T. $195 plus GST. Probably not worth it on a small trailer, unless you have found a super great deal down south.

$629 for a 5x8...even with the $200 it's still an OK price...I'll look around more up here - no real rush just need a little bit wider trailer by the time I put new tires on.

Once imported and processed through RIV, the trailer will still require an inspection to ensure it complies with Transport Canada regulations. The importer is responsible for any upgrades or changes required before RIV will release the trailer for insurance purpose.
Something to consider also...

There's a small trailer for sale just north of Oakbank. Not sure the size or what kind of floor it has. I know that the fold up loading ramp looks like steel mesh. If you want, I can take a closer look at it tomorrow and let you know the size, model, tire size, etc. Looks to be about a 6 or 8 ft. Don't know how wide.

I paid $800 for my 4x8...I'll keep looking.

LMAO - I'm surprised your Ford could pull a trailer without breaking down - must not have had the quad on it at the time

All in good fun...like I said, I'm not in a big rush...sometime by fall.

Sure, that would be great...ideally I don't want to go bigger than 5x8 as I pull it with my convertible right now.

Thx

I still say that towing a quad with a car with the soft-top down is awesome.

There's a trailor outfit right in St. Norbert across from the comunity center. Just have a look at what they have. Looking doesn't cost if your ever in the area.
