Inflatable hot tubs
Wondering if anyone out there has any of these items. What is the pros, cons, would you get one again or are they just garbage. Do you use it in winter at all or just set up outside in the summer? can get a used one at a decend price, but the wife is telling me to wait and get a pool instead
As i would like to have both a hot tub and the pool. Oh well guess i have some sucking up to do. Let me know what your thoughts about them are,if you have one. |

tub
We had one. The along and short is they are a very cheap cheap tub. The heater will not keep up. If it is outside and cold out the heater will run and run to keep up until you get cold and have to get out. Then it will still take a very long time to recover.
We had it outside on the deck during summer. It was ok as the summer was hot. Then in the fall we noticed the trouble of keeping in the heat. Also, when you put on the jets it sucks air from the outside air and blows it through to create bubbles. The air temp cools it down almost instant. I drained it and put 2" styrofom SM (Blue color) under it. I also wrapped it with moving blankets to retain the heat. It helped, but all it did was slow the wicking away of the heat. Also the pump went twice and the filters have to be changed very often (No ,I'm not a dirty guy either). The filter system is just to small for it. I would highly recommend not buying one. Save your money and pick up one that is built for our climate. Your lady will thank-you for ever!!!! Alot of the hard spas/hot tubs are made down south and dont have proper insultaion for Manitoba. The heater on those ones are big and can keep up, but your hydro bill will be very high. I know this all from experience. I returned my hard hot tub to Costco for all those reasons. Arctic Spas on Mc gillvery is where we are going to buy the new one from. I've done my home work now. The ARE built for this climate and are very good quality. (No,I dont have any association with them at all). They just have a good product, thats all. Sorry for the long post. Good luck!!

Usually lots of decent used tubs for sale on Kijiji for a good price! I've seen nice ones for less than $1500.

guy at work just got one shipped in to winnipeg from down east. Set it up at his cabin, his family loves it. No filter plugging issues.

My buddies parents had one for years. Was awesome! We used it every year till about mid november. Was nice and hot. Theirs had lots of neoprene insulation though. The lid fit very tight too. For $150 you could try it out and if doesn't work out you can resell it for the same.

Bought one this summer. Returned it after 5 days. Tub was advertised as getting to 38 degrees C.....never got there. Much the same as the earlier post.......outside air is used to run the jets and the heater does not run while the jets are going. The result is lukewarm hot tub and we filled it with hot water. Cannot be used below +4 degrees C.
Wasn't worth it for us.......took it back to CDN Tire and got our $700.00 back. This is the one we briefly had. http://www.canadiantire.ca/AST/brows....jsp?locale=en My humble opinion.......buy the real thing.......you'll never truly be satisfied with a portable inflatable hot tub.

I bought a 2 person tube that plugs into a basic 110 outlet and it is great .last winter here in Regina it was -46 for a few days and i used the tub in 103deg water. we do have a small portable shed over it also. I looked at the inflatable ones and read lots of reviews first that swayed me away from buying one.
