Phone call from Windows support, NOT

I received a phone call this weekend from somebody who said they were calling from Windows support. They then asked me to start-up my computer, type some commands in the run box. I already know that Microsoft and Windows do not phone consumers directly, so I played along until I got bored with him. I don't know what the end-game was, but be careful when someone calls about your computer.

They called my mom a few weeks ago telling her that her liscence had expired.

Tried to get us to bite as well last Monday, had heard about this scam before so we just hung up

its a scam that goes around from time to time . What they are basically trying to do is trick you into giving them remote access to your computer . They will then either :

a) infect your computer with a virus , or make it behave like it has a virus ; and charge you $$ to 'fix' the issue

b) dig through your personal files ( cookies , etc ) to try and find valuable info ( credit card , SIN # , so on ... )


Best thing to do is either hang up on them , or if your bored , play REAL dumb and get them to repeat instructions over and over again ( how do i double click the mouse ? ) and then hang up on them after they've spent the last 20 minutes pulling their hair out

they called me, i called him many many names
and told him i dont own a windoze machine

they didnt like that either LOL

Got that call on Friday afternoon asked to speak to their supervisor then put on hold for 5 mins. Then I got a dead tone

He was quiet for a while and then he asked me again that my windows wasnt work right and again I told him the windows were closed because it was cold out. Another pause he asked again and I asked if he was stupid because I don't own a computer, then he hung up and hasn't called since.

Winston from Ceylon Tech support just called. He says the mainframe isn't getting any response from my computer. What a bunch of BS.

Ya was getting those too for a while about. Started about a year ago. got the point that they called just about every day. I think the reason might be is one of the first times my kids said to call back (because i was not home) and so they got my number on redial. Anyway played with them a few times. then that got borring too, told them to f off for a while but the just kept calling. Was tollaly out of hand already. So one day i screammed in the phone like some posses'd phsyco. told the guy i had him and i was going to hunt him down and kill his wife and kids and hang him by him by his balls (sorry family site i should know better).... Been 4 months now and no more calls lol.

LOL !! Same dude called me today. Before he could finish his first sentence I told him to take a hike and don't call anymore.

The caller ID came up as 204-480-0203. When I called it back I got a recorded announcement that the phone had been disconnected.

Boy, that was quick......they should pay their phone bill !!!

Did the same exact thing with the credit card calls yeld out some of the nastist words that ever come out of my mouth and that was the end not a single call after that, and man it felt great to let some of that anger out on one of those sob!!!!

Ya i'm not sure where that came from when i did it, kinda freaked my wife and kids out. then i told them who it was and they all understood. it just rolled off my tounge felt great. lol
