Prime Meridian Trail
Taking my 83 yr old father out for a nice easy ride on the Prime Meridian Trail tomorrow morning.
Question..........is there gas and/or food on/near the trail somewhere that is accessible with the quads ?? I don't think he's up to going all the way to Fisher Branch from Argyle !! Thanks !!

Be careful of railway spikes also. There were dozens scattered on the trail the other weekend. Where I stopped to pick some up I noticed there were a few that we're buried into the railbed but the loose ones looked like there were fresh hammer marks on them. The quad that was I was following was kicking them up and it looked like they were placed on the trail. Take some tire plugs and slime with you or a spare if you can carry one.

As for the tickets, it makes me wonder how or where the people were riding? Many years of riding the area in large and small groups and going in and out of the towns while passing cops and have never had any issues. Not saying it can't happen just not a common thing. Freelance. You can get gas in inwood, poplarfield and fisher branch. It's easy going so you'll likely be fine on a single tank with a spare 2 gallon can.

No staging area on #67.
The trail does start there but as of right now our only staging area is the woodroyd location.

Yup the SIATV motorized portion of the trail starts right at 67. The trail south of 67 is the "non motorized" portion so and travel on there is not recommended or endorsed by SIATV :)

You COULD park near where the Ekhart Train Station used to be at
N 50° 07.830 W 097° 26.870 (Copy the above numbers into Google maps). It is where the Prime Meridian Trail crosses road 76.5. It isn't an OFFICIAL staging area, but I've seen vehicles park there without incident. There is even a geo-cache nearby. http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache...spx?wp=GC32XX4 For those who do that sort of thing. Depending on what you have for a vehicle, you can also park in the ditch right along hwy 67 if you wanted to do the WHOLE trail. |

You need to follow the trail that takes you around the community. Some residents want to walk the trail without the risk of being run down. Some residents were concerned about the noise. Some residents were worried the kids in the nearby school could be run down. Their voices were heard. The SnoMan trail also follows this route, they were able to continue to use this route in the winter, which is good, we need to have this trail returned to motorized use all year.
