well too bad lapolice gave away so many good players and got Nothing in return... Willis, labatte, Jo Lo , terence J harris, greg carr, steven jyles, obby khan, bowman. and the list goes on. all i see are ex bombers all over the league. So Yeah Lapolice was a hellova coach , soo good he didnt need all the players i just mentioned... and im sure im forgetting a few !

You think the coach decides what players stay and what players go. Not a chance. GM Joe Mack makes those decisions. Why do you think the entire city wants Joe Mack fired? Cause he's the guy that let all those players go and let the coach go. Coach only has so much to work with.

But at least we have Jets.... Sorta... Unless we have a lockout? Then we have the Moose? Oh nvm the Jets replaced them. We could watch the Winnipeg Saints? NVM they moved to Virden. Still have the South Blues though right? Or the Steelers?

Hope those Bombers can at least win the Banjo Bowl.

umm yes , i believe the coach has alot to do with which players stay and get let go. might as well fire mack as well , they're both terrible ... and their record proves it - they just got lucky at the start of the year last year. the playoff game was amazing though and had nothing to do with coaching cuz it doesnt matter when the oposition cant hear a fukin thing :)

Wow, I can't believe you would even associate that with Lapo! It's all the management, mostly GM who decides who comes and goes. Coaches just give their input on what they would like. Rumor has it the Bombers can't afford to keep marquee players anymore because of the new stadium.

Well lapo was the one saying he has his team just as he wanted(that being the players he has). the boys on cjob were hinting to his firing for poor play calling for several weeks now. when cjob is asking the players if they think lapo is doing his job and calling the right plays and so on... they knew he was on thin ice for a while..... and imo he was terrible with the media, grow a set and tell them what you think. so heres what i see, shitty play calling, shitty clock managment, and shitty player retention/respect. not sure why people like him so much all of a sudden. PLUS he cant even count to 13 !!Id say his firing was a 50/50 split with the fans until they lost to saskatchewan which made lapo everyones favorite man.

The GM/coach work within a budget for player salaries that is dictated by the team owners. To be fair, Lapo didn't really have a choice in some of those that left. We don't know the whole story but I'd be willing to bet there's $$ issues - as SS said, related to the new stadium - as the reason why there are so many young (read: cheap) players on the team this year. Remember, there's no Canad Inns on the jerseys this year, so there was probably a cost to play in Canad Inns Stadium for another full year, new stadium likely went over budget.... all sorts of reasons. From a business perspective, it's a risk analysis. Basically take the chance that you'll save $$ one year by having less "expensive" players and hope you'll keep enough of the fan base to carry over to the next where you can get some more expensive talent then bring the team into the new stadium with huge fanfare. Everyone loves a good party, right? :)

Not wanting to start that pissing match bud, but don't you think that is EXACTLY the words he is going to hand to everyone when everyone looks askew at him wondering who the heck all these guys are? He has to take ownership regardless of whether or not he did or didn't get the guys he may or may not have wanted on the team. He's not about to come out and say something like "I wanted so-and-so, and him and him and him, but I couldn't get them for this reason and that reason."

Basically, he (and a lot of other coaches) will lie, because that's sometimes what you'll do when dealing with the media/public when you're under the gun, knowing full well that at some point someone may call for your head to roll if it goes bad. :)

Not trying to start a pissing match either, just having a friendly discussion of opinions on who is at fault for the Bombers poor play. As far as I know Lapo doesn't do any play calling, it's all on the offensive coordinator Mr. Tim Burke.

IMO they bailed on Lapo too early. BC game was close and at least entertaining to watch. As mentioned, we lost a lot of key players which doesn't make the coaching job any easier. Now were paying him to coach from his couch. Ya that makes a lot of sense.

FYI coaches - ya have a quarterback who doesn't put up a point by half time, yank his azzzzz. Its not rocket science.

My boss sent me this today, this year's Rider billboard purchased in Winnipeg. I at first thought it was photoshopped as I noticed the individual in it is not wearing an actual watermelon and has and far too many teeth. They probably hired a Leafs fan for it... you know how shameless they are.

Anyways, I informed him there is currently a ban on the color green at my house. Unfortunately, I'm the only one following it because everyone else who lives in my home is female - and you know how they can be. Not to stereotype of course, ladies.
