according to the manual it is. Pour the appropriate amount of approved SAE
80W-90 hypoid gear lubricant into the filler hole.

There is a small check plug. Fill the diff untill you see gear oil come out of the check plug hole.

I changed mine last fall and used hypoid 80/90 but one thing i did notice that front diff was almost clear like new oil but rear was a dark almost black color. Wondering why that would be? Anyone have any idea?

Water in diff oil will make it look milky. Black oil is dirty or burnt. Flush your diffs with diesel fuel before you put new oil in. I'm assuming you mean spark plug is black and engine is running rich? Check your air filter and make sure your spark plug is gapped correctly. Plug should be a NGK CR7E gapped at .028. If your still running rich your floats could be out of adjustment or needle valve in the carb could be worn dirty or sticking.

Don't think my oil was burnt because it still looked good and showed no signs of breaking down and had no burnt smell.

I use Amsoil Marine Gear Lube. It's 75w/80w-90 full synthetic. They say it can handle up to 10% water contamination so it would good for anyone playing in the water/mud.
