They are good machines, already set up for the mud and you dont need to do many mods to get them ready for pit racing. BRP didnt do much clutch work from factory for the 30" silverbacks, the snorkels are too low, and I'm 230lbs and find the suspension a little rough but it is adjustable which is good if your doing different riding/ pushing a plow.

I had one, sold due to house build/property purchase, it rides good, lots of fun, shines in certain areas due to longer wheel base, but not so much in some areas due to longer wheel base, air lift susp. comes in handy, great bike all around..when i do get another bike, i will build my own,.....

I built my own shorty xMR and my buddy has the actual xMR and riding both I can say

The xMR is a fine trail bike. I find it rides and little rougher than mine but not harsh

Around Happy Pines the xMR was just as fast (faster off the line due to not wanting to flip over backwards)

The longer wheelbase is harder to wheelie but it's doable

The xMR is good for hauling loads and packing stuff on due to the larger rear rack area and also being able to stiffen the suspension

I would say 27" tires would be rather small. Generally people with xMR's just run a less aggressive 30" tire but if you wanted to downsize I'd say no smaller than 28"

The snorkels are high enough to keep you out of trouble, could they be higher? Yes but I don't like getting my gauge cluster under water so I'm fine with the height

I don't think you would regret buying one.

The reason I was thinking of going with 27 xtr is I can get them new at a really good price.

I went for at test drive today at st jean derby run ,the xmr is a great mud machine the 1000 has lots of power no problems in the mud at all .I was able make it around the mud pit with no problems, if your looking at a mud machine its great .I do more trail then mud so I am going with the 1000 xtp ,it rides really smooth and just do a few mods to play in the deep stuff.
