Track bearing Maintenance
I have the Kimpex Commander snow only tracks. I am wondering do I need to do any maintenance such as replace bearing. They dont have alot of use but are three years old. How do you check the bearings other than spin them.

What I do is after each season when I remove the tracks I re-grease the bearings. I know they say that they are non greaseable but they can be greased. Remove the bearing from the track, remove the dust cover from the bearing (a small pick works well and be careful not to damage it), using a grease gun force grease into the bearing balls all around, re-install the dust cover and re-install the bearing. Remember to use a winter grease. It takes some time but your bearings will last forever. If you have never done any maintenance you will want to really check the bearings over as you may need to replace them. They're only a few bucks each so if they're noisy replace them before they cause more issues. Hope this helps.

Did the same to mine 22 bearings in each track, 88 altogether. Takes a while.

I used a little grease gun that is made for greasing that little hole in the tip of chainsaws. It is a plunger style so you can pump it with one hand and rotate the bearing. It shoots the grease out in a VERY tiny spot so you have very little mess. At the very least you should remove the dust caps on the boogie wheels every spring. They are better at keeping moisture in than out.

When I did mine, I removed the dust seal off both sides of the bearing, put the bearing in one of those "Cone" shaped bearing greasers & then pumped out the old & pumped in the new.
Uses a lot of grease & is kinda messy but I know my bearings have all new grease in them & I've never had a bearing issue, let alone have to change one. But I have a box of 100 if I ever do need to change one ... ![]() ...
