I`m thinking about getting into this. Who`s got them and what can you tell me about them. Let`s see some pics of what you got. Thanks

I can suggest one good place in Winnipeg. It's called Eliminators, it's on Higgins Ave. Good prices and very knowledgable staff.

I`ve been to both places. Leaning more towards celler dwellers. I might get a ARF electric to fly now and would like to get a balsa kit for gas to build. Looking at the Sig Kadet Senior for the kit.

I fly both electric and nitro planes. The big gas planes fly the best in my opinion and have the advantage of cheaper power and simple gas and fly. The downside is the noise and danger takes them outside the City and you end up flying them less. The electrics are very convenient and if you are like me, you will put more hours in the air on electrics.

Definately start out on a flight simulator and get all your reflexes tuned. There's little room for hesitation or mistakes on the real thing. A good starter plane is a high winged trainer, rudder, elevator and ailerons. No warbirds until you get bored with the simpler, more docile planes.

Planes are cool but really limited to where you can fly them. Have you looked into helicopters?

helicopters are cool. starting out with the right one is critical. flight simulator is a good idea as well. a 4 channel helicopter is a handful in the beginning, but a lot of fun. I have an E flite 120SR and I like it. You can fly it indoors or out. fairly tought. Parts available at eliminator rc. Most parts breakages cost you only around $5.00

I live on 43 acres just outside of Lorette so I could be flying a Nitro everynight from my own runway.

Sounds like a gas plane would be the best for you (ultimately). You can keep landing and refueling, and get an hour in the air before the battery for the radio and servo's start to run down.

Get a good radio like a Spektrum DX7 or 8 and a flight kit with an electric starter, electric fuel pump, power panel and a Cessna type trainer plane with a 40 size engine. Spend hours on the flight simulator flying circuits and landing before you try the real thing. If you have time, join the Winnipeg Radio Control Club and get some instruction. I just learned on my own with gliders and then electrics. Now I fly 3D gas planes and electric ducted fan jets that go 80 mph.

The electric ARF sounds like a good start. Try not to waste money on something that won't get much long term use. You want a radio with two sticks, preferably ailerons and elevator on the right stick and rudder and throttle on the left. That's the long term goal, so don't get anything that won't help you build skills.

More edit: A simple high wing plane with just rudder and elevator on the right stick and throttle on the left will get you started. Then when you have that aced, buy a quality radio and assemble an arf or kit with ailerons, then eventually a low or mid wing.

Definitely a high winged trainer. The Sig Kadet is a great starter. Don't get the JR(no ailerons)! Trust me you will be bored in no time without ailerons. Ether D/L a flight sim or buy one, they are worth the money. Or you can find someone that already knows how to fly to take your plane up the first time to make sure it flies good. Then they can hand the controls to you and let you fly. Once you get into trouble they can take the controls back. They also sell radios with a patch cord running to another one which he can take control of the plane at any time.

Prepare to crash your plane because it WILL happen They say every plane has at least one crash in it even with the most experienced pilot.

I would deal with Celler Dweller for sure. Lots of knowledge and very happy to answer any questions. My experience walking into Eliminator was a snotty nosed kid with attitude. One other experience I had was with a RC truck that I bought used. I had it for awhile and wanted to sell it. Had a buyer lined up and they told him because it had been sitting for a year that the motor was probably junk. They never even saw it! I will never deal with them or say a good word about them again.

If you're looking for someone to help teach you I live just outside Lorette and would be more than happy to help you out.

Another thing if you're not into the building of them you can always look for a used one that is already built on Kijiji. You can usually find some good packages with everything you need to get started for a lot cheaper. Ones with the starter, field box, stuff like that. This way you don't spend a fortune and realize that you don't like it. Hust a thought.

My favorite video from onboard the T-45. Gives you some idea of how fast this plane can cover some distance:

Here`s one that JB had posted of his Buds back in Ontario.

I really like how he mounted the camera so you can see the cockpit for reference.
