Nissan Titan 2010 has no block heater.. help..

Bought a used Titan which was actually imported from the southern US... Nice truck, price was ok but there is no block heater equipped with the truck...
Has anyone any experience putting in an inline hose heater, that heats the water and circulates it?... I'm thinking this might be easier to do myself rather than install a typical block heater?? If anyone has anything to share regarding installation of either, please chime in... Thanks..

You should look at get one of those polar heat ones that basically glues to the bottom of the oil pan. Heats up the oil which is even better than the block style.

You can get an oil pan heater that is magnetic and will stick to the bottom of your oil pan. I have seen them used on tractors before but, not sure where you can buy one.

CSA512 - stick on oil pan heater you can get at piston ring 100-125 bucks , they work well :)

you could put a circulating heater in the coolant , that would work really really good, if there is room under the hood and your coolant lines for the heater core are easy enough to work with.

or you could buy a block heater and install it as it would be easier then putting the inline heater in.

oil pan heaters are crap imo (very bad experiences) , if you do put one on make sure it is free of dust and grass, also they only heat the oil in the pan, a coolant heater will heat the whole engine

Oil pan heaters are far better for engine start up than coolant heaters. No slow cranking & easier on the battery.I can get anything to start in the winter by heating up the oil somehow(even used an old car interior warmer aimed at the oilpan for a bit on vehicles that won't start & works like a charm.

well im not so sure on that.... im in the school bus industry.. all of our busses(60) have both block heaters and oil pan heaters(stick on as well as thread into pan ones). at -35 our busses will NOT start if the block heater shorts out and all that is working is the oil pan heater. On the other hand if the oil pan heater shorts out and all that is working is the block heater , the engine will start. so IMO block heaters are better.

I'm gonna have to side with Chevnut on this one. We used to used an oil pan heater on a van. Worked great.

Also heating up the oil was the only way my dads old 5 ton freight liner would start. Tiger torch and stove pipe aimed at oil pan worked every single time.

well all im saying as a licensed diesel mechanic who does ALOT of road calls for no starts- its never because of an oil pan heater not working , but many for block heaters not working.
cheers

Just put in a coolant circulator/heater and use light weight synthetic engine oil and be done with it.

A oil pan heater works on my 1.9l diesel Volkswagen just fine if the battery stays strong. You can get them in different wattages and sizes. I have a friend that has both a coolant and block heater and he likes it cause the interior seems to hear up quicker. Installing block heater is not hard as long as you can get at the plugs.
