making a table out of a tire

well seeing how my front tire on my quad is fubard, i orderd a new one. so with that being said, i wanna turn my old 25 inche tire into some sort of end table. its pretty much brand new but a big tear in it. so im wondering where i could get a piece round glass to put in the tire so i can use it as a table.
any thoughts?

Great idea. I have a brand new 19" chrome rim with tire from the mustang that cracked the rim and punched the sidewall on the tire. Would also make a wicked cool cofee table. Let us know what you come up with for glass.

Maybe check with United Furniture warehouse & see what they have for tables with glass. The table might be cheap enough to just use the glass or tell them you have that table but broke the glass. We had to replace our glass on ours & I think it was $60from them (32" x 45" oval with bevelled edge)

There's a little furniture shop in Oakbank, across from the Twin Barrel, that has odd pieces of Glass and mirrors from time to time. Otherwise most glass places will cut you a piece. I checked speedy autoglass for custom mirrors once. They were quite pricey, but that was for beveled edges.

Another option is to buy a round mirror from walmart, Rona, HD, CT or any other home stores. I'd even check Winners or Home Sense (if your ever on Kenaston) for a deal. Or cut a piece of wood and paint it!

You should find a place that does sand etching and have a logo or phrase etched into the glass, that would look good too

Found some at Pier 1 imports. Price $29.00 - $109.95

http://www.pier1.com/Round-Glass-Tab...efault,pd.html

Each of our 3/8"-thick glass table tops features an ogee edge—a brilliantly polished, rounded edge with a small decorative ledge—especially well-suited for formal dining or fine accent tables. It's all in the details, baby.

Cool

Just cut four slots in the back, open and install a square glass large enough to cover the hole. Will look round from the outside. Use styrofoam blocks to keep in place and retain shape. Tracstar
