Gen 2 QE Video

This video demonstrates clearly as I suspected, the new QE calibration on the gen 2 bikes is pretty much instant lockup. Great for crawling over obstacles but not as great for steering and manoeuvrability as LE has pointed out.

so yes we can see that it locks up pretty well instantly when power is APPLIED to the diff? But You guys think that it also locks up when just free wheeling during a turn? I dont think I have heard of anyone confirm this, maybe someone will find a video to prove or disprove this theory. With the powersteering its hard to have any kind of feel in the bars, but one would think that if it locked up during a corner you would feel a substansial difference in feeling half way thru your turn.

Yes I am pretty sure mine is fully locked just from the difference in wheel speed during a turn in 2 wheel drive. If I look at my inside front tire while turning it is slipping and scratching away at the same speed as the outside tire. Like you say steering is still easy even though locked because of the DPS.

crack a couple donuts until you get that sucker flying fast enough that your inside tire is up in the air....if inside tire is turning than I guess we know it does lock up in 2wd. I will wait for your results.....and video. lol

If Can-am would just add a locking lever to the old non qe diff they would have it solved.
The only thing I could think of better would be the Polaris AWD with a viso-loc front with full lock option.

Put pressure on the tire, not some dirt or a log and it takes longer to engage. For hardcore technical riding it gets by but its not the best.

Bang on,,,, the best of both worlds, except I would use the first generation QE diff as it was about a half a turn to lockup instead of the original visco non QE that was 2 or 3 turns. If someone could come up with this as an aftermarket product and mass produce they would sell 1000's.

Can-am is usually listening to what people are saying and making changes so hopefully the visco with true full lock option is in the works for the future.

If canam made this change I would very much consider it as my next bike.

for 90% of everyday riding I have no complaints about the QE diff. Technical riding tho I will take the kingquad/grizz/ac wet clutch and selectable diff lock option. more control, smoother operation, and better power application. For everything else there's mastercard...err....1000 can am.
