truck tire recomedations/ options
im looking at buying a set of tires for my truck in the next few weeks , im looking for a agressive a/t tire that will wear fairly decent, im thinking about a pro comp xtreme a/t , or something like it, looking for a tire about 33 - 34 x 12 on a 20 inch rim, anyone know of a good tire in that size range that wont cost me a arm and a leg? or what i can expect to pay

I am running 305/55/20 (33x12.5) Nitto Terra Grapplers on my F150 and couldn't be happier.
I have put 50000km on them so far towing my 2 quads, running 4 miles of gravel to and from my place and sustained 75mph on the interstate and there is no irregular wear and I am still at 70-75% tread left. I run them on 10" wide rims and run 45psi front and 42psi rear. They are quite on pavement and run cooler than my buddies Duratracs. They have been good in snow and ice also. They seem a little wandery in slick mud but that could be due to the fact they measure almost 13" wide the wy I'm running them. I will buy them again. They were just under $2000 for the tires alone including taxes and install when I bought them 2 years ago

ill always suggest falken wildpeaks to anyone i see asking about all terrains.
i absolutely love these tires. better than BFG AT in my opinion, but, i havent had either of the two in snow yet. as far as the terra grapplers jimbits mentioned, i have a friend who ran them on his jeep, and said they sucked in any wet terrain other than pavement. ie. wet grass, gravel, etc. but i cant say for sure, as i dont have them. maybe jimbits can comment on that and clear it up. price wise, hard to beat the falkens. they also have a 50,000 MILE tread warranty on most sizes. discouttire lists them at $254 per tire for 305/55/20 (33x12..50R20) another tire i always recommend for us canadians is the duratrac. amazing tire in the winter. cant be beat as far as all terrains go. running 20" wheels, never expect cheap tires. just dont happen lol. thats hy i refuse to go over 15" on my truck. tires are so cheap. and hit up bbertram for pricing. he was the cheapest local price i could find. great guy to deal with as well.

Wet pavement really good.
I really couldn't give a accurate review of wet grass as I haven't really done anything on it except slow driving in my yard. For the use I have for my truck they work great (getting down 4 miles of unplowed road in winter) anything bush or mud related I park the truck and drive the quad so I can't say how good the Nittos are for that.

Duratrac is great all terrain tire like was mentioned, better if your in snow or mud. I found them really good on wet roads as well, not great on ice unless you lower pressure and carry a bit of weight. Currently on my Ecoboost I have 29000km and have 13/32 tread depth. Nittos are a great hwy/ gravel/ all season tire (I wont say all terrain). They are considerably less agressive, a bit quieter on hwy, tread wear has been good as well but if you look at some tire reviews some people complain. When my tread depth did get down I found them only adequate on wet surfaces. Any kind of damp surface my Dmax would break the tires free at hwy speed. But there is alot more power behind it then any of our work trucks or my Eco. Price wise they are both very close. Go look at some first hand, evalutate the kind of driving you do, and then make your purchase. In the oilpatch you used to see Toyo MTs all over, I mean everywhere! Since the introduction of the Duratrac the Toyos are way less common. Actually on our mega cab cummins I threw on a set of Nitto HD grappler which is a mud terrain tread, but has a great compound to handle the torque. I think we will get 80-90,000km on them. Happy shopping!! I got good wear out

Not sure if they have the size you want but the Cooper A/T 3 has to be considered when looking at new style A/T tires. They are not quite as aggresive as the Pro Comp Xtreme Terrains but would give better pavement manners for sure. I have a set on my F-150 and they are great on the highway, good in sand, dirt, gravel, light mud and VERY good in heavy rain/wet road conditions. Packed snow and dry snow traction is very good but ice or wet snow is not very good. I was gona try the DuraTracs but my experience with the Goodyears our customers have is not very good tread life.

I run the Bridgestone A/T Revo 2's, as the first Revs are no longer sold.
I have had them on my truck for 5 years, and still show very little signs of wear. Great all year tire... best i have ever run... Work good on ice/slush when out on the lakes... and great on all road surfaces for me.... towing my boat everywhere... they just dont climb you out of holes when your trucks in the ice.... but other than that... good tires! Ive had duratracs, Mickey thomson mtz's , and wranglers.
shitty side walls on good years i found, punctured 3 - 2 on duratracs and 1 wrangler. also duratracs get chewed very bad by gravel, but they are good in the snow. mtzs are good but ride very rough and quite noisy if that bothers you. and fairly pricey- but price has come down some. my new tires are yokohama geolander MT + . what a great tire so far love them. awsome traction, ride quite for an mt , they are directional tire and look great to boot... also a very good price. paid 285 $ per tire for 315/75/15's from denray tire. great bang for the buck

mud tires suck in winter. plain and simple.
as for the duratracs chunking and tearing up on gravel, my brothers have no signs of getting tore up. hes had them for almost a year now, with tons of gravel travel. id assume that has a lot to do with what load range tires you got, and what size/air pressure. those elements play a huge role in tire wear. they do have a weaker sidewall than most though

They do suck in the winter but my recent tire purchase I did something different. I purchased some KM2s for my jeep and I had them sipped down the middle lugs. Doing some reading and people seem to like it. If you sipe the outside lugs as well you can get chunking. We'll see how much better they perform.

Had my Xterrains siped that were on my W250 Cummins, absolutely night and day when it came to winter driving. I will never put another set of mud tires on any truck without siping them. I had Kal tire on route 90 do it. It was $30 a tire for 37's was $20 or $25 for anything smaller. Those Xterrians hauled @SS in the winter after that lol.

i bet my falkens with the center tread sipes would be killer in the snow. i imagine they are already pretty decent, they have a bit of sipage action going on.
