tip fraud

What would you do? Had beer and wings last week and long story short the service was terrible and after waiting 20 minutes for our bill I was livid and did not leave a tip. Honestly I can't remember the last time I didn't tip, this was about making a point not the few bucks.
Anyway fast forward and I'm looking at my credit card bill and the ***** added to my bill. It was the paper type where you sign and add a tip on the bill.
I guess its my fault for not writing zero in the tip field but I can't believe they had the nerve to do that. Worst part was it was probably the manager as I got up and went to the front desk since the server was a-wall.

Call the restaurant and ask to speak to the manager. Ask the manager if it is their policy to change credit card receipts after they have been paid. If they don't handle it call your credit card company explain the situation they will refund your money and get it back from the restaurant.

I wouldn't just sit and take it what they did is theft, had it happen to me and that is what I did.

Credit card company asked me to call restaurant first and see if they would fix the problem if not than they would refund and take action.

I had something similar happen to me and even though I left a tip at the table I had an 18% tip added to my credit card. When I phoned Visa and told them what happened they registered my complaint and contacted the restaurant. I was refunded on my next statement by visa. It is visa's policy with regards to situations like this to ensure the customer is satisfied with their purchase and it is their policy to refund if your not. This refers to all purchases on visa including restaurants.

I would be calling the credit card provider as well. Just them them it was an unauthorized charge, and it will be removed from your bill as soon as you fax then a statment that it was unauthorized. It's up to the restaurant after that to file a counter complaint which would then go to mediation.

I would go back in person, and speak with the manager in a central location in a loud and stern voice

One place I was at, where they automatically added a 23% tip to the bill? I used the calculator on my phone, deducted it, and wrote in the new total. The girl looked at me like I was speaking sanskrit, so I asked for the manager, and explained to him, in great detail why I was unhappy with the service and the meal in general. Most of the other patrons were having the same issues - wait 45 minutes between courses, then it comes out cold. The waitresses all off in a corner texting, wrong meals brought out. etc.

He couldn't run my reduced bill through fast enough to get me out of there. lol

The Thirsty Lion Tavern in Charlsewood by the perimeter for anyone that's curious..

This is NOT a case of an automatic tip added to the bill.. A POS employee took it upon themself to modify my bill. You sign the receipt and have the option to add a tip. I left the field blank and I can only assume some entitled f*** filled it out.

I don't want the few bucks back. I'm just beside myself that they took it upon them to 'tip themselves' on my card. We've been going there every week or two for years and this is the only time I can remember not tipping.

Problem with going to see the manager is it is very likely that it was him who did it. Server was a-wall so I went up to the desk and paid.
