ATV Track Kit

Looking for suggestions for an ATV track kit... I have heard some bad things about the Bombardier kits. MATTRACKS seems to have a good with the LightFoot (http://www.litefootatv.com/index.htm). But I have not seen or heard of any reviews of these tracks first hand. Any thoughts? Or alternatively any thoughts on good tires to ride in the winter? I would prefer tracks to get me there but if tires will do me then thats cool too!

stock tires I think are best for snow. For aftermarket I thinkthe bugs are pretty decent.

I've seen all the videos for Mattracks. Not the ones on the website, but the ones that they show to customers at trade shows & to the ATV TV shows. Reviews have been good, except that tracks aren't suited for rock crawling (as shown on ATV TV).

They look impressive. Especially on the Hummer H2 and the guy's up to his nipples in snow and the H2 is floating on top. And the one video with the 2 Poo's ditch banging along 59 Highway just north of Karlstad looks cool. But....

Go to BBertram's website. Download a few of his videos. Then pay attention to all the different brands of tracks that every one has and their machines. Brent's videos are quite entertaining and educational when comparing all the different style of tracks.

If you wanna check out all the different sizes of Mattracks and see how they're manufactured, Matttracks are about 20 minutes south of the Manitoba border at the SE corner of highway 59 & the road to Poo City (Roseau). They usually have a couple of trucks & quads sitting in front of the building on display. For the trivia buffs, Matttracks provided the bottom half of the tracked robots in the Terminator 3 movie.

JDR is on a distinguished road
I picked up a set of Matttracks in May 2006....as far as all season construction, definitely, advertisement states fun factor 10....oh ya....I can't wait until the snow flies.....if they are as good in snow as they are in the swamp (which I'm sure they will be....they are EVERYTHING that they advertise them to be.

The only thing about this advice JeeperV6 is that different drivers drive differently. If I don't blast along at full throttle and am not carried further by momentum, does that mean that the track is not as good as the guy next to me that just drives hammer down into a deep drift. It's kinda like comparing mud tires. fast and hard sometimes works better but, often slow and easy is better too. Seldom do you find drivers varying their driving styles. BBertrams always yelling at me to give it more throttle and when I do sometimes it does perform much better, but then again not always. More throttle has gotten me into trouble too. Having two riders on the bike and comparing to someone else with just a single rider can bear a difference too. Enjoy the videos, but trial comparisons are too varied for anyone to make a conclusion from.

Yep yep, more throttle can get you into trouble, down you go!!! Quads dont have the HP and traction and they weigh just to much to float like a butterfly on the snow, no matter the track type.

Big HP with big rubber gets you through the snow reallly good!!! But tracks will always dominate tires.

Hiya Maxter,

I agree 100% about different drivers/different styles, especially with 2 on that limo of yours. But on the other hand though, the Brent's videos are good to see how the different styles/machines with tracks handle the same terrain during the same time frame.

The Litefoot videos Matttracks have given the TV shows make it all look easy. After watching Brent's videos, neither the Litefoots or the TJD's make it look like that easy. But you definitely get farther and with less trouble than tires. The only problem with tracks is when you get stuck, you're usually gonna be there for a while getting it out. Whether it's a Ski-Doo MXZ-1400 or a Cat D8K, it's still a b*tch!

Um... ah??? care to explain Ski-Doo MXZ-1400

Maybe a photo or too? Sounds very interesting???

I will be experimenting between AB Boivine tracks and TJD's this winter. I feel the boivins will trail better, but the TJD's will be my Boondockers!
I'll be trail riding the ADBoivins but I still would like to find myself a small Bombardier trail groomer like machine. With 2 full length tracks, the cab looks about big enough to carry 2 or 3 people across thats it. Anyone know any info on these machines???
